Linda S. Sladky, age 65, of Omaha, passed away October 12, 2013, at her home.
Linda was born June 30, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Donald and Ferndelene Nancy (Scott) Lane. She attended North Platte, Nebraska High School for 3 years and graduated Peoria, Illinois High School in 1966. Linda married Richard Sladky in 1990. She was the box office manager at Aksarben Cinema for the past 2˝ years; a member of the Literary Society, and taught English as a Second Language. Linda was an avid photographer and loved writing. A favorite wish for everyone was a quote from Mark Twain, “Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover”. Linda had many roles over the years, including “nanny” to 6 of the 8 grandchildren. Everyone she touched loved her can-do spirit, and her wish to all was “Peace, Love and green M&M’s”.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lane.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Sladky of Omaha; daughters, Julie (Jason) Blankenship of Omaha, Angela Tucker of Council Bluffs; son, Marty (Jen) Price of Omaha; 8 grandchildren; mother, Nancy Lane of Osceola, Iowa; sister, Martha (Forrest) Bevineau of Belleville, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials are suggested to the American Brain Tumor Association.
Visitation with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Celebration of Life Service, Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 South 96th Street, LaVista, Ne. Reverend Keith Grimm will officiate. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
