Marie E. Miller, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at her daughters home in Lees Summit, Missouri.

Marie was born July 24, 1922, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to the late Gordon E. and Ella (Roeder) Allmon. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1940. Marie married Harry J. Miller on September 25, 1943. They were blessed with three children, Karen, Diane and Gordon. The Millers lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa, prior to moving to Council Bluffs in 1955. Marie was a cook at Jennie Edmundson Hospital for 19 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of 5th Avenue Methodist Church; United Methodist Women and F.L.A.M.E.S.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry J. Miller in 1997; granddaughter, Anne Marie McVey; and brother, Robert Allmon.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Freeman and husband, Ed, of Council Bluffs, Diane Koski and husband, Dave of Lees Summit; son, Gordon F. "Rick" Miller and wife, Chris, of Council Bluffs; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Guttau and husband, Donald, of Mondamin, Iowa, Helen O'Neill, of Tacoma, Wash.; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Service, Friday, 11 a.m., at the mortuary with Maureen Williams officiating. Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with a lunch following at 5th Ave. Methodist Church. Memorials may be offered to 5th Ave. Methodist Church.
