Ellen D. Blumer, age 92, passed away July 25, 2010.

Ellen was born on January 5, 1918. She was a lifelong farm wife. She enjoyed family history and keeping mementoes from many family events over the years. Ellen was self-taught on the piano and organ and played at the Minden United Church of Christ and Shelby Lutheran Church. She and Melvin were long time farm bureau members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Emma (Dohrmann) Martens; sisters, Olga Wolff, Viola Kapfer, Elsie Martens; and brother, Alvin Martens.

Survived by husband, Melvin of 69 years; sister, Velma Martens; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Elven Steenbock; sister-in-law, Dorothy Martens; godchildren, Janice Lange, Janet Graham, and Connie Marr; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Visitation Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Service Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Minden United Church of Christ, Minden, Iowa. Interment Minden Cemetery. Family will direct memorials.
